What windows actually involves

Window cleaning is not on the truck yet. We are adding it, and this page is here so you know what is coming and can put your name down for it — but if you need glass cleaned this week, we would rather tell you straight than take the booking.

Window cleaning is the finishing move on an exterior project. A soft-washed house with filmy glass still reads as dirty, because glass is the thing your eye actually focuses on. That is exactly why we are adding it: we keep finishing houses that deserve the last ten percent.

Once it launches we will work two ways depending on the window. Upper floors and hard-to-reach glass get a water-fed pole running deionized water — with every mineral filtered out, the water dries without leaving a single spot, so there is no squeegee and no ladder over your landscaping. Ground-floor and interior glass gets the traditional treatment: applicator, squeegee, hand detail on the edges.

Frames, tracks, and sills will be included, not upsold. Vacuuming the grit out of a track and wiping the sill is what makes the difference between glass that is clean and a window that is clean. Screens get removed, washed, dried, and reinstalled.

North Texas

Why it happens here

North Texas water is hard — commonly 8 to 12 grains per gallon — and that is a direct problem for glass. A sprinkler head that clips a window every morning deposits calcium and magnesium, the water evaporates in the heat, and the minerals stay. Do that for a couple of years and the deposits begin etching into the glass itself.

Etched glass is worth understanding before you pay for anything. Once minerals have bitten into the surface, standard cleaning will not remove it — it takes a mechanical restoration process, and if it has gone far enough the glass has to be replaced. Catching it early is the whole game, which is why we flag hard water spotting on every job even when you only booked a house wash.

Then the seasonal layer on top: oak and cedar pollen in spring that turns glass yellow-green, and clay dust all summer that dulls everything. Two cleanings a year keeps up with it comfortably in most of the metroplex.

Process

How the job runs

No surprises, no upsell in the driveway. This is the same sequence every time.

  1. 01

    Count and inspect the glass

    We walk the house, count the panes, and check for existing damage — scratches, failed seals with fogging between the panes, and any hard water etching. We show you what we find first, because none of those are things cleaning will fix and you should not be surprised by them afterward.

  2. 02

    Remove and wash the screens

    Screens come out and get washed separately rather than being sprayed in place, which just pushes dirt into the mesh. They dry while we work on the glass.

  3. 03

    Clean the glass

    Water-fed pole with purified water for upper and hard-access windows; applicator and squeegee for everything within reach. Both approaches finish with the edges detailed, because the edge is where a bad window cleaning always shows.

  4. 04

    Detail the frames, tracks, and sills

    Tracks get the grit vacuumed and wiped out, frames get hand-wiped, sills get cleaned. This is the step that takes the longest and the one homeowners notice most.

  5. 05

    Reinstall screens and inspect from inside

    Screens go back in the openings they came out of. Then we look at the glass from inside, standing where you actually stand, which is the only angle that tells the truth about a window.

Windows questions

  • Can I book window cleaning right now?

    Not yet. Window cleaning is the next service we are adding, and we are listing it early so you can register interest — mention windows on a quote request and we will contact you the week it goes live. Everything else on this site is available today.

  • Will you clean interior windows too?

    Yes, and we will recommend it — cleaning only the outside usually makes the inside look worse by comparison. Interior work will be priced separately since it takes longer per pane. We use drop cloths and shoe covers inside and work around your furniture rather than through it.

  • Will you be able to remove hard water spots?

    Often, but not always. Fresh mineral deposits sitting on the surface come off with an acidic treatment. Deposits that have etched into the glass need a mechanical restoration process, and severely etched glass sometimes cannot be saved. We will assess honestly and never charge for a restoration attempt we do not think will work.

  • What is purified water and why use it?

    It is water run through a deionization filter that strips out every dissolved mineral. Because there is nothing left in it to leave behind, it dries spot-free with no squeegee and no drying towel. That lets a crew clean second-story glass from the ground with a pole instead of putting a ladder in your flower bed. Getting that filtration onto the trailer is the piece we are finishing now.

  • How often should I have windows cleaned?

    Twice a year suits most DFW homes — once after spring pollen drops and once in fall. Homes near open fields, active construction, or heavy irrigation often want three. If you are already booking an annual house wash, adding windows to that visit is the efficient way to do it.

  • What if a window is already damaged?

    We will document it and show you before we clean it. Scratches, failed seals, and etching are all pre-existing conditions that become far more visible once the glass is clean, and we would rather point them out on the front end than have you discover them afterward and wonder.
